How price tiers work

Each brand gets one entry price: the regular (not sale) price of the most basic item in what it's mainly known for. That's a plain T-shirt for a basics brand, a crew sweater for a cashmere label, a pair of socks for a sock maker, jeans for a denim brand. The listing names the exact product, links to it, and says when we checked.

Prices in other currencies are converted to US dollars at the exchange rate on the day we checked. The tier compares that price with typical prices for the same kind of item, so a $45 tee and a $180 cashmere sweater can both be “mid-range”. These bands are our judgment, not an industry standard:
